The Rangers continue to sign their NCAA prospects, as they’ve inked defenseman Jackson Dorrington to a three year entry level contract. Dorrington, acquired as part of the JT Miller trade, finished up his junior year at Northeastern, putting up a line of 2-13-15. A 6th round pick in 2022, Dorrington has seen steady improvement at Northeastern in his three years, and it’s clear Chris Drury and his scouting team have liked what they’ve seen thus far.

Dorrington, a 6’2, 192 lb left handed defenseman, will have some work to do with the Hartford Wolf Pack. Per Dobber Hockey, his play last season was vastly improved on both sides of the puck. He netted 6 goals and 12 points in his sophomore season, and improved on the other side of the puck with better reads and using his size to disrupt attacks and shooting lanes.

Dorrington is a bit of a project, but he’s got bottom pair potential for the Rangers.
