The NY Rangers lines tonight will have a few changes, notably Brennan Othmann is coming out as a healthy scratch, and Juuso Parssinen will be coming back into the lineup. The decision is odd because, for starters, Othmann had looked good even in a fourth line role. Second, Parssinen hasn’t really looked good since joining the Rangers as, what I am guessing, a roster size inclusion in the Ryan Lindgren/Jimmy Vesey trade instead of a true target.
Parssinen will go back to the 3RW spot, replacing Brett Berard, who drops to Othmann’s spot as the 4LW. If you’re questioning why, well that makes two of us.
If Othmann is indeed the future for the Rangers, and he looked fine in a fourth line role (which is not his expected role), then why take him out? The Rangers were fine against Edmonton and it certainly wasn’t the bottom six that resulted in the loss. It’s a bit odd that after several strong outings, even if one resulted in a loss, the Rangers are changing things up.
This one seems odd, especially as the Rangers chase a playoff spot.
