Every fan will have their own way of remembering Ryan Lindgren. Some might recall him as a defenseman who struggled to keep up in a system that moved faster than his style allowed, while others will remember him as the steady presence alongside Adam Fox, anchoring the Rangers’ top pair during many thrilling nights at Madison Square Garden.

No matter how one views his tenure, Ryan Lindgren was a dedicated soldier for the organization, and his role in helping the team emerge from the rebuild shouldn’t be overlooked. Ultimately, the Rangers decided to move on, sending him to Colorado along with Jimmy Vesey in exchange for Jusso Parssinen, Calvin De Haan, as well as a mix of prospects and draft picks.

Parting ways with Lindgren wasn’t easy, as the team saw him as a heart-and-soul player who gave everything across seven seasons in New York. However, with his contract expiring this summer and the likelihood of a new deal slim, the Rangers felt they had to get value in return. His declining performance had begun to weigh on the team, leaving them little choice but to make the move.

Though he’s no longer here, Lindgren’s contributions over the years deserve appreciation. A throw-in from the Rick Nash trade with Boston, he never hesitated to throw his body in front of a puck, battle through injuries, or stand his ground despite his smaller frame. At his best, he embodied the tough, gritty defenseman every team covets, and for nearly seven seasons, he gave the Rangers just that.

All good things must come to an end, and we wish him the best in Colorado. For now, let’s take a moment to revisit some of his finest moments as a Ranger.
