The Rangers coughed up a three goal lead to the Dallas Stars the other night, and despite playing well, managed just a point in the loss. It was more of the same from the Rangers, as porous defense hung their goalie out to dry despite an improved offensive showing. This looks like it’s the current state with the Rangers. Hope to outscore the opponent or hope the goalie steals one.

Igor Shesterkin returning is a big deal for the Rangers. He should be able to make that one additional save that either preserves a lead or keeps the Rangers in it. I was hoping the games without him would wake the defense up, but clearly that wasn’t the case. Maybe having him back means they can comfortably outscore their opponents.
