Jacob Trouba trade update: Anaheim Ducks fly together, in exchange for Urho Vaakanainan

Update: The Jacob Trouba trade has been finalized. He is going to the Anaheim Ducks. Urho Vaakanainen and a pick is the rumored return. No salary will be retained.

Original Post: The Jacob Trouba trade drama has taken another turn, though a somewhat expected one. Trouba is not on waivers today, removing the end-result threat of being placed on waivers if he did not accept one of the trades on the table. This likely means Trouba will be traded, and it’s a matter of when, not if, the trade is announced.

Of course the other scenario is a Jacob Trouba trade is not finalized, and Trouba winds up on waivers at some point over the weekend. It does seem a trade is the most likely scenario, with Anaheim, Columbus, and Detroit as the teams rumored to be heavily in the mix.

For what it’s worth, despite what others are reporting, Ottawa is not in on Trouba, nor is Brady Tkachuk a realistic trade target. The Rangers can try all they want, but if Ottawa isn’t willing, then Ottawa isn’t willing.
