The Rangers begin their west coast swing in Seattle, and will do it without their best 5v5 play driver in Filip Chytil. Chytil has been the Rangers x-factor this season, as his presence not only balanced the lineup, but gave the third (second?) line some much needed scoring punch. Now Jonny Brodzinski fills in temporarily, and hopefully only temporarily, as the Rangers depth will be tested on this trip.

Luckily Seattle isn’t overly strong defensively, but they are pretty solid offensively. Without Jordan Eberle, they too are shorthanded, but they are still fully capable of putting up six or more on a team that takes them lightly. The Blueshirts looked better against San Jose, but that was San Jose. Seattle isn’t a “real” test, but they are a good increase in difficulty before the Rangers start getting to some better teams this trip.
