Per Vince Mercogliano, the Rangers lineup tonight will include Brennan Othmann, who will get his 3rd straight preseason game. It’s abundantly clear the Rangers want Othmann to make the team, and while he hasn’t exactly shined, he hasn’t been bad either. However tonight’s lines will be a tad different, as Othmann doesn’t appear to be penciled in with anyone from last year’s team. It looks like he will play with Adam Edstrom and one of Jonny Brodzinski or Adam Erne.
Othmann is the clear front runner for a roster spot over Brett Berard, who has only appeared in one game thus far, but he still has a long way to go to unseat Will Cuylle.
On defense, it looks like we will get the long awaited K’Andre Miller-Adam Fox pairing, as the Ryan Lindgren injury has forced a retool of the pairs. Jacob Trouba remains with Zac Jones for tonight, as this will likely be the pairing when fully healthy. Victor Mancini is competing with Chad Ruhwedel for the 6D spot while Lindgren is out.
Expect Mancini to be sent to Hartford once Lindgren is healthy.
