We have a Ryan Lindgren injury update, per Mollie Walker, and it’s not a good one. After fighting Scott Mayfield last night following the Filip Chytil hit, Lindgren suffered an upper body injury and will be out multiple weeks. Lindgren just can’t catch a break with his injuries. The season hasn’t even started and he’s already likely to miss a game or two.
Assuming Lindgren does miss regular season games, it’s likely Chad Ruhwedel jumps into the lineup right away. He won’t move up to the top pair the way Erik Gustafsson did when Adam Fox was hurt last season though. I’d expect K’Andre Miller to move up to play with Fox, and Zac Jones–who played well last night–to move up to the second pair with Braden Schneider. That leaves Ruhwedel with Jacob Trouba.
From a cap perspective, it’s unlikely Lindgren injury puts him on LTIR since it would force him to miss 10 games and 24 days, which takes him out of the lineup for the first month of the season. They can always place him on LTIR retroactively if it comes to it.
