The first round of Rangers cuts for the 2024 preseason, trimming the camp roster by 15 players. Eleven players were assigned to the Hartford Wolf Pack, with Maxim Barbashev heading up that group. Three players were returned to their CHL teams, with 2024 draft picks Raoul Boilard and Nathan Aspinall among them. Kalle Vaisanen was returned to Europe for the season.

Assigned to Hartford: Maxim Barbashev, Carter Berger, Brett Budgell, Jonny Evans, Blake Hillman, Blade Jenkins, Case McCarthy, Blake McLaughlin, Jake Murray, Chase Pauls, Ryan Siedem

Returned to Juniors: Nathan Aspinall, Raoul Boilard, and Noah Van Vliet

Returned to Europe: Kalle Vaisanen

The first round of Rangers cuts always feels a bit too early, but it’s the status quo every year. This round of cuts is usually comprised of CHL and European prospects that either aren’t eligible or not ready for the AHL, plus the first big chunk of Hartford players that have no shot at being a call up this season (note: Barbashev).

The Rangers now have 48 players remaining in camp.
