Per Mollie Walker, the Rangers preseason opener later this afternoon and evening will be led by the line of Will Cuylle, FIlip Chytil, and Kaapo Kakko. This trio is the expected third line to start the season, but can be shaken up if Brennan Othmann, also playing tonight, should he play himself into the conversation.
We will also get good looks at potential fourth line battles with Jonny Brodzinski and Jimmy Vesey. Vesey is expected to make the team, but Brodzinski is still on the bubble as a 12F/13F.
Dylan Garand is another intriguing name, as he’s the heir apparent should Igor Shesterkin’s contract demands be unruly and unrealistic. He’s also a top trade chip should he continue to progress in the AHL.
The rest of the lineup is still up in the air. But we are expecting players going to the CHL and overseas to be cut from camp either today or tomorrow.
