Nothing is official yet, and can’t be until noon today, but it looks like Sam Carrick will be joining the Rangers on a 3 year, $1 million per year deal. The 32 year old center played last season with Anaheim and Edmonton, is a 4C/13F type player who put up10-6-16 across 77 games with both teams last season.
Carrick is a balanced replacement-level forward who is good on faceoffs and average at basically everything else. The Blueshirts will likely use him on the fourth line, perhaps as their replacement 4C or in a rotation throughout the season. He will likely get time with guys like Matt Rempe and Jimmy Vesey.
