The Hartford Wolf Pack have named Grant Potulny their new head coach, replacing interim head coach Steve Smith. Smith took over when Kris Knoblauch went over to Edmonton, and he will not be back in the same capacity next season. Instead, Potulny comes on board after spending 7 years as the head coach at Northern Michigan University.

Under Potulny’s leadership, Northern Michigan made a run to the CCHA Finals in 2022-2023, losing to Minnesota State. This past season, Northern Michigan lost in the first round of the CCHA Tournament.

Potulny, a 2000 5th round pick by Ottawa, played four years at Minnesota before playing with the Binghamton Senators for 4 seasons. He bounced around the AHL for a few more years before landing an assistant coaching gig at Minnesota in 2009.
