Original: The New York Rangers had breakup day today, which is usually where we get to find out who played through what injuries. The Blueshirts did not disappoint, as there were multiple Rangers playoff injuries that very clearly impacted the team.
Jacob Trouba played through the entire playoffs with a broken ankle. Adam Fox re-aggravated his knee injury in that Nick Jensen collision. Jimmy Vesey had a broken shoulder, but he didn’t play through it. Ryan Lindgren also played through a cracked rib.
Credit to Lindgren, Fox and Trouba for gutting it out, and at least Fox was still productive. But the coaching staff really should have taken a step back and looked at Trouba’s effectiveness and taken that decision to play out of his hands. But that’s a conversation for a different day.
Update: Looks like the Trouba injury struck a nerve. Looks like he was cleared to play. But to say “it didn’t feel great to skate on” makes it seem like he played through it. Apparently he did not.
