The Rangers took care of business at MSG and are up 2-0 as the series heads to our nation’s capital for the next two games. Game 2 wasn’t as much of a domination as Game 1, but the Rangers were able to hang on for a win. Game 3 is expected to be more like Game 2, with a desperate Caps team trying to get out to an early lead and get back into the series.

Expect the Caps to come out hard and fast, but the Rangers have been more than capable of weathering that storm all season. The normal protocol for a game like this is to survive the first period and then fall back into the normal game pace, but the Caps aren’t known for pushing the pace. Perhaps the best answer is to meet their intensity with a quick strike to quiet the crowd.

For those who need some refreshers: 3 keys to a long Rangers playoff run, Rangers hold the stats advantage, line matchups will be key for Laviolette, Charlie Lindgren scouting report.
