It’s official. We will have yet another Rangers/Washington playoff series this year. The Caps took down the Flyers in regulation last night, locking up the final playoff spot in the East and eliminating the Penguins, Red Wings, and Flyers in the process.

Since the Rangers clinched the President’s Trophy on Monday night, it’s the Caps and the Rangers.

I’m sure most of us are sick of seeing the Caps in the playoffs, but such is life in this new playoff format. Despite their negative goal differential, they’ve seen solid goaltending and the offense (note: Ovechkin) has woken up in the second half of the season.

Charlie Lindgren is fully capable of pulling an Akira Schmid, even if the Rangers are by far the better team. As with every playoff series, this is not a gimme.
