Per Mollie Walker, the NY Rangers lines tonight will be the same as they were on Monday night against Pittsburgh That means Matt Rempe is scratched again after playing 2 seconds against the Devils on Wednesday night. Rempe and Kurtis MacDermid started the full line brawl that resulted in 8 ejections.

Scratching Rempe isn’t that big of a deal since he’s only playing, on average when he plays a full game, 7-9 minutes a night at 5v5. There clearly isn’t much trust in Rempe just yet, and that’s fair since he hasn’t really earned it yet. He’s a good kid and has a great attitude, there are just some clear aspects of his game he needs to work on, especially with the playoffs coming.

Again though, perhaps the biggest concern is players like Barclay Goodrow and Jimmy Vesey, who haven’t been great recently, aren’t getting some rest. Perhaps they will if/when the Rangers wrap up 1st place in the Eastern Conference and/or the President’s Trophy. There is still something to play for, after all.

Jonny Brodzinski has been fine in his role with Alex Wennberg and Kaapo Kakko. He’s not flashy, but he gets the job done. There are certainly questions about who should be the third player on that shutdown line, but that’s nitpicking at this point in the season.
