NY Rangers lines tonight: Matt Rempe scratched
Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Per Vince Mercogliano, Matt Rempe will be a healthy scratch for a third straight game, meaning the NY Rangers lines tonight will have no changes.. The Rangers have won their games without Rempe, so this isn’t that big of a deal. This also means Jonny Brodzinski is on the third line, in a shutdown role, with Alex Wennberg and Kaapo Kakko.

That trio has been pretty solid recently, which may be why they are sticking together. The 4th line, with Will Cuylle, Barclay Goodrow, and Jimmy Vesey, has been getting caved in though. There’s an easy fix, but we know it won’t happen.

On defense, and this comes with the disclaimer that it’s unconfirmed, K’Andre Miller appears to be bumped to the top pair with Adam Fox with Ryan Lindgren sliding back to play with Jacob Trouba. If this sticks, it’s about time Peter Laviolette tried something different, even if it doesn’t work.

Try things out, find options and backup plans, and see what won’t work. The Rangers have 8 games left to figure out their backup plans before the playoffs begin.
