Erik Gustafsson, who took an elbow to the face on Saturday night, will not practice today and is day to day with an upper body injury. The Rangers, who play tomorrow against Philly, will likely need to shuffle the defense pairs again should Gustafsson be unable to play.
Gustafsson joins Ryan Lindgren and Jacob Trouba as the top-six defensemen currently injured.
For D pairs, first look is:
Miller – Schneider
Jones – Fox
Scanlin – Ruhwedel#NYR— Vince Z. Mercogliano (@vzmercogliano) March 25, 2024
Assuming Gustafsson can’t play, Brandon Scanlin would make his NHL debut. Scanlin was recalled following the Lindgren injury. If the above pairs dress tomorrow, expect Scalin-Chad Ruhwedel to get some pretty sheltered minutes, with the top four doing the heavy lifting.
As a reminder, Connor Mackey is injured as well.
