Per Vince Mercogliano, Matt Rempe and the recently recalled Brandon Scanlin will both be scratches tonight. Scanlin was recalled to be an extra body while the Rangers manage the Jacob Trouba and Ryan Lindgren injuries, so his exclusion from the Rangers lines tonight isn’t a surprise. Chad Ruhwedel will make his Rangers debut tonight on defense.
Matt Rempe as a healthy scratch is a bit surprising, but when you take a step back, is the right call. The Rangers have played some of their best hockey lately, and there’s no reason to change things up right now. Jonny Brodzinski is a solid 4th liner, he just doesn’t have the flash that Rempe has.
Rempe will be back in the lineup at some point. Preferably for Barclay Goodrow, but that won’t happen. Expect a Rempe/Brodzinski rotation for the next few weeks.
