Rangers recall Brennan Othmann

It looks like someone will miss the game tonight, as the Rangers have recalled forward Brennan Othmann from the AHL. Othmann has been playing both LW and RW with the Hartford Wolf Pack, putting up 14 goals and 36 points in 44 games. He’s behind just Alex Belzile for the Hartford scoring lead.

It was reported yesterday that both Jimmy Vesey and Artemi Panarin missed practice, but there was no word at that point about availability tonight. With Othmann’s recall, it looks like one will miss tonight’s game. Panarin did take a puck off the skate against Dallas, so perhaps that’s the injury?

In regards to cap space, since the Rangers have both Blake Wheeler ($800k) and Filip Chytil ($4.437 million) on LTIR, they will be able to use that full $5.237 million at the deadline. At this point in time, there is no point in worrying about banking cap space.
