The Rangers and Devils are set for a showdown tonight, and what an interesting turn of events it’s been since the preseason. The Devils were everyone’s preseason darlings, but injuries, goaltending, and coaching have derailed a promising season. The Devils are currently tied with the Islanders for 4th in the Metro and just 2 points ahead of the Washington Capitals, who have a game in hand.

Meanwhile the Rangers are sitting pretty atop the Metro Division and are on an 8 game win streak despite injuries of their own.

The Devils are a very good team still, but they have just been hampered by goaltending and Lindy Ruff. Goaltending was a question mark heading into the season, but coaching wasn’t for some reason. We as Ranger fans knew the real Lindy Ruff would appear at some point. Still, again, they are a good team and can make noise to close out the season and in the postseason.
