With the Blake Wheeler injury still fresh in everyone’s minds, the Rangers Stadium Series lines had to be shaken up. Jimmy Vesey, the obvious choice to slide into the 1RW role temporarily, has done just that as he joined Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider on the top line. The surprise was that Matt Rempe, not Alex Belzile, will join Barclay Goodrow and Adam Edstrom on the 4th line.
Naturally, the Rangers do need to accelerate their plans to add a 1RW. It won’t come before the Stadium Series, but the trade deadline is a few weeks away and we will hear tons of chatter about who the Rangers will target. For now, they just need to survive. It’s a tough part of the schedule too, with their next 4 games against teams either in the playoffs or solidly on the bubble.
This roller coaster season is going to get bumpy again for a couple of weeks.
