Per CapFriendly, the Rangers have recalled forward Matt Rempe from the Hartford Wolf Pack. This is Rempe’s second recall this month, as he was given a one day look before being returned last week. Now with the Blake Wheeler injury, Rempe will again likely be the spare, and it’s expected that Alex Belzile will fill in temporarily while the Rangers figure things out.
None of Rempe, Belzile, or Adam Edstrom are going to be the long term 1RW solution. We know this. The Rangers know this. What is most likely going to happen in the short term is Jimmy Vesey jumping to the top spot. The Rangers’ fourth line will consist of Edstrom, Barclay Goodrow, and most likely Belzile.
Until the Rangers address their 1RW and potentially 3C needs, we are going to see a patchwork lineup with Wheeler out. It might be bumpy waters ahead.
