Kaapo Kakko trade rumors: Rangers fielding calls?

Add an interesting name to the rumor mill, as there are now Kaapo Kakko trade rumors, per TSN. At the very least, the Rangers are taking calls. TSN, specifically Darren Dreger, noted that the Rangers aren’t going to just move him. They will look for an upgrade, specifically a scoring winger or a 3C, or perhaps both. But that isn’t anything surprising.

Kakko is probably the Rangers best trade piece, at least the best realistic trade piece. His name alone should be able to fetch two missing pieces: A 3C and a scoring winger. Remember, Kakko is still just 22 years old, a 2nd overall pick, a top defensive forward, and has been very close to breaking out offensively. He’s not going to light the world on fire, but a solid 20-goal, 50-point two-way player is realistic.

Moving Kakko is something only done if the return is worth while. Make of that what you will.
