After a strong rebound win against Chicago, the Rangers travel to Montreal tonight to take on another bottom feeder in the Canadiens. Montreal is rebuilding, albeit somewhat poorly, so they weren’t a good team to begin with. Now with multiple key injuries up front, their lineup resembles that of their AHL affiliate, instead of an actual NHL team.

The Blueshirts got a youthful injection of speed and shooting from Brennan Othmann on Thursday, who more than earned another few games. It was also worth noting Othmann moved up in the lineup when the situation arose, such as Blake Wheeler’s fight and Artemi Panarin’s puck to the teeth.

This is a soft spot in the schedule for the Rangers, with games against Chicago, Montreal, St. Louis, Washington twice, and Seattle in this run. Only Vancouver represents a truly decent team. This is a run where you expect wins.
