Team USA, led by player of the game Gabe Perreault, rolled past Latvia by a score of 7-2 in the quarterfinals of the 2024 World Juniors. Perreault had two goals and an assist in 14:31 TOI, with Drew Fortescue adding a goal in 16:21 TOI. Team USA is the overwhelming favorite to win, following Czechia’s upset of Canada.
Slovakia wasn’t as lucky, as they lost in heartbreaking fashion to Finland in overtime. The OT winner came just 24 seconds into overtime. Captain Adam Sykora had a goal in 22:29 TOI.
The semi finals between USA and Sweden will be on January 4. Should the USA advance, the 2024 World Juniors finals are the following day.
