If there were any doubts about Team USA at the 2024 World Juniors, they may have been squashed after the USA crushed Slovakia 10-2 in what was the Group B “title game.” There may have been doubters after the USA needed a shootout to dispatch Czechia, but they put those concerns to bed by crushing the next best team in Group B by a 10-2 score.
Gabe Perreault (1st, 2023) was surprisingly scoreless in the 10-2 win, finishing with 1 SOG in 15:19 TOI. Drew Fortescue (3rd, 2023) continued his solid play, notching an assist in 17:00 TOI. For Slovakia, captain Adam Sykora (2nd, 2022) finished with 6 SOG in 17:35 TOI.
The win secured first place in Group B for the USA, with Slovakia dropping to 2nd place. Now it’s time for the elimination round, with the USA getting Latvia and Slovkia getting a tough draw against Finland tomorrow. If the USA wins, they will get the winner of Sweden/Switzerland. Slovakia would get the winner of Canada/Czechia.
