The Rangers have returned center Adam Edstrom to the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL. Edstrom was a mildly surprising recall before the Rangers took off for Florida, but that was later clarified that the Rangers wanted an extra forward for the back to backs in Sunrise and Tampa Bay. Edstrom did not play in either contest.
As with most recalls lately, the Rangers were scrutinized due to cap management. The news that the Rangers are “hopeful” that Filip Chytil will return this season on top of his return home to Czechia for the next phase of his recovery from a concussion may have changed that worry though. It appears the Rangers will have Chytil’s full LTIR overage to use, assuming he doesn’t return for the regular season.
Edstrom is still likely the first injury recall, as he has performed well enough to earn an extended look.
