A dark horse to medal at the 2024 World Juniors, Slovakia, led by captain and Rangers prospect Adam Sykora, started their tournament off strong with a convincing 6-2 win over Czechia. Sykora finished the contest with an assist in 22:51 TOI, by far the most ice time for any Slovakian forward.
Slovakia will have a tough hill to climb with tournament favorite Team USA in joining them in Group B. It’s expected that the USA will win the group, but Slovakia will move on to the elimination round once round robin play is complete.
Slovakia’s next game is tomorrow against Switzerland, with puck drop at 6am EST.
Team USA kicks off their tournament run today at 11am against Norway.
