adam edstrom hartford

In response to the Kaapo Kakko injury, the Rangers have recalled forwards Jonny Brodzinski and Adam Edstrom from the Hartford Wolf Pack.

There was some hope that Brennan Othmann would be the recall, but it makes sense for him to stay in Hartford and continue to build his confidence while playing big minutes. Brodzinski can slide right into the lineup in a bottom six role, perhaps in a 1-for-1 swap with the injured Kakko.

Edstrom is perhaps a bit of a surprise recall, since having him develop would also be in the Rangers’ best interest, especially since Brodzinski can be the temporary fill in. Perhaps they’ve seen enough of Edstrom –who also played in the SHL, mind you– that they think he’s ready to make the leap in a 4th line role.

There are no updates on the severity of Kakko’s injury, but it does seem like a season ender.

Connor Mackey was returned to Hartford to make room for both Brodzinski and Edstrom.
