Kris Knoblauch

The Edmonton Oilers are in the middle of a coaching change, having fired head coach Jay Woodcroft after the Oilers dismal start to the season. Per Frank Seravalli, the Oilers are likely to hire Kris Knoblauch as their next head coach.

Knoblauch was in the running for Rangers head coach before they hired Peter Laviolette. The decision wasn’t popular at the time, but has since turned out pretty nicely for the Blueshirts. Since Knoblauch is the rumored coach for Edmonton, it likely means the Rangers don’t have Knoblauch in their future plans.

Knoblauch will likely be a good fit for the Oilers, but a major loss for the Hartford Wolf Pack. Knoblauch was key in the Pack’s turnaround late last season and their strong start this season. Edmonton is getting a good coach, but the Pack lose a good coach in the process.
