The injury bug for the Rangers has reared its ugly head again. Louis Domingue will start tonight for the NY Rangers in net, as both Igor Shesterkin and Jonathan Quick are injured. Dylan Garand, the Rangers top goaltending prospect, will serve as the backup.

The Quick injury came up late yesterday, and necessitated the call up of both Domingue and Garand yesterday.

Starting Domingue over Garand is a no-brainer, as there is no need to potentially destroy the confidence level of your top goaltending prospect. Garand may not have a future with the Rangers thanks to Shesterkin (or he might if Shesterkin plays hardball in a few years, but there’s time), but he might have some trade value soon enough.

There’s also no need to rush Shesterkin or Quick back with the 6 day break coming next week. Hopefully one will be back for the Columbus game, but there’s no need to rush it.
