The Rangers had their winning streak snapped over the weekend after blowing a 3-0 lead, and now look to rebound against a Detroit Red Wings team that is currently punching above its weight class right now. Detroit has some good talent, but they aren’t (shouldn’t be?) a playoff team this season. They may be benefiting from a poor start from some of the playoff contenders in their division.

However every team is a challenge for the Rangers right now. They are without the best defenseman in the NHL and a top-six center. Any team will have trouble when missing two of their top players. The Rangers shook up their lines to help generate offense without Fox and Chytil, but truth be told generating consistent offense at 5v5 was a problem before the injuries.

It’s all part of the growing pains, hopefully.
