After Thursday’s clunker at MSG, the Rangers have a short turnaround. In just 48 hours following the loss, the Blueshirts had to travel west and drop the puck in Seattle, which is less than ideal for any team traveling across the country. Normally teams get an extra day, but not this time. That’s fine. A little adversity for the Rangers is a good thing early on.

Hopefully the Rangers don’t lay a pair of eggs in a row, but it wouldn’t be that big of a surprise. The 2013-2014 team keeps coming up as a comparison, since that was the last time the Rangers had a true adjustment to a new system. It’s better to lay eggs in October than in May, after all.

On the bright side, Seattle is having a rough start to the season, unable to match the magic from last year. Maybe this is a soft landing spot. Maybe this is a trap game. For those staying up late to watch, let’s hope it’s the former.

Note: This game thread was written a day in advance, as I was unsure if I would be home in time (traveling all day Saturday). If the lineups are wrong, I’ll fix when I get home.
