Rangers recall Dylan Garand

With back to back games coming up, the Rangers have recalled goalie Dylan Garand to help give Igor Shesterkin and Jonathan Quick a break before the season starts. Garand is by far the best goalie in the Rangers system right now, and will likely be the starter in Hartford this season.

I highly doubt this recall has anything to do with Quick’s poor preseason. Anything is possible, of course, but I see this as the Rangers wanting an extra goalie and an opportunity for Garand to get some action against mostly NHLers.

Should he develop to his ceiling, Garand may put the Rangers in a difficult position when Shesterkin’s current contract is up.
