Jake Leschyshyn

The NY Rangers have waived center Jake Leschyshyn, a rather early cut for the previous 4C under Gerard Gallant. Leschyshyn was claimed off waivers by the Rangers last season and played 13 relatively bad games for the Blueshirts before he was sent to Hartford. For what it’s worth, Leschyshyn is close to a point per game player in the AHL.

Much like Ty Emberson, Leschyshyn was never really a legitimate option for the Rangers this year. The Blueshirts significantly improved their depth in the offseason, pushing Leschyshyn down the depth chart. Nick Bonino, the projected 4C, is miles better than Leschyshyn, although based on his performance last season, this doesn’t really say much.

If that seems harsh, it’s mostly because typing Leschyshyn always results in at least 2 typos.
