Per Vince Mercogliano, both Filip Chytil and Artemi Panarin left practice early due to injury. Both are day to day, according to Peter Laviolette.
On Chytil and Panarin, Laviolette said “we're hoping it’s day-to-day” and their absences will be short term. Added, “Just in general, with exhibition games, I think you want to just err on the side of caution and keep guys healthy.” #NYR

Since it’s still camp and the preseason, this is most likely the Rangers being extra cautious with their players. Mika Zibanejad returned after getting hurt a few days ago as well. There’s no need to have these guys play through injuries, even if they are minor, when the season hasn’t even started yet.
This may also have to due with a brand new medical and training staff. It’s better to be cautious.
