Angela Ruggiero

The Rangers have bolstered their front office staff, adding Hockey Hall of Famer Angela Ruggiero to their hockey operations staff. Per the NY Post, Ruggiero practiced with Chris Drury in his playing days, which naturally led to this addition to the staff. As one of the most decorated players in women’s hockey history, Ruggiero is likely well suited for the role. The Post states that she will have a role similar to Brian Leetch had.

Like it or not, Drury has set out to revamp the front office, scouting, and coaching staffs since taking over, and has done just that. It’s tough to say what kind of impact Ruggiero will have, but she’s also had executive experience with a number of Olympic and hockey boards. It’s likely that we won’t necessarily see her full impact, much like we never really saw Leetch’s (or Brad Richards’, or Ryan Clowe’s) impact in a similar role.
