The only remaining piece for Chris Drury and the NY Rangers is to finalize an extension for Alexis Lafreniere. While this Lafreniere contract update isn’t much, Lafreniere told Lapresse in Quebec that his agent and the Rangers are working on a deal, and that everyone, himself included, needs to be patient while the process goes on.
There is hope on both sides that the contract is done in the coming weeks before training camp, but that doesn’t necessarily guarantee something will be done by then. The Rangers are no strangers to these things dragging out. Brandon Dubinsky, Marc Staal, and Derek Stepan all had lengthy contract negotiations, some resulting in hold outs during camp.
