Per Frank Seravalli, the Rangers have signed center Tyler Pitlick to a 1 year deal at $787,500. Pitlick is another depth signing by the Rangers, augmenting their fourth line and giving them options should someone like Will Cuylle need more time in the AHL. The Rangers are Pitlick’s 6th team in as many years.
Don’t expect Pitlick to be a big contributor, but he should be a steady defensive presence on the bottom six. Despite being a center, Pitlick doesn’t take faceoffs and is a career 36.8% face off guy. More evidence that centers are more than just faceoffs.
Pitlick is likely to be the Rangers 13F this season, depending on how the rest of the offseason shakes out.
