Encouraging signs from Peter Laviolette, as he trusted his team.

Per Mollie Walker, the long wait is over. As rumors circulated about who the next coach would be, the Rangers have finally made a decision. Peter Laviolette will be the next Rangers head coach. It was Laviolette or Hynes, and while neither option is a sexy option, Laviolette is the best of the two. It isn’t even close, to be honest. At least now, we can move on to other offseason topics.

Laviolette can get the job done. He’s had success with developing kids, with managing stars, and with in-game tactics. The big thing is Laviolette adjusts his systems and tactics to the team he has and tries to get the best out of his players by putting them in positions to succeed.

Sometimes, you need to settle with good enough, and not look for perfection. Laviolette has his flaws for sure, but he’s good enough to get the job done.

Gord Murphy, the only remaining assistant from Gerard Gallant’s days, will be let go.
