Per Larry Brooks, the NY Rangers have dismissed assistant coaches Mike Kelly and Jim Midgley. This comes as no surprise, as both assistants were hires for Gerard Gallant, who was dismissed over the weekend. It’s exceedingly rare for a head coach to inherit assistant coaches tied to another head coach, hence the dismissals.
Assistant coaches Mike Kelly and Jim Midgley have been relieved of duties, Post has learned. Gord Murphy remains on staff with ultimate determination to be made by incoming head coach. Benoit Allaire remains in place (but you knew that one).

Gord Murphy has survived though, despite only being promoted to the NHL bench under Gallant. Murphy has a bunch of history with the current crop of Hartford Wolf Pack players, as he was an assistant there for two seasons from 2019-2021. His future is dependent on whomever the Rangers hire as the next head coach.
Benoit Allaire remains, and will be on his sixth NHL head coach with the Rangers.
