Ryan Lindgren injury

Ryan Lindgren is your 2023 Steven McDonald Award winner. The Steven McDonald Extra Effort Award is presented annually to the Ranger who, as chosen by the fans, “goes above and beyond the call of duty.” Lindgren is just the third defenseman to win the award since it has introduced in the 1987-1988 season.

Lindgren set a career high in assists (17) and points (18) this season despite missing about a month with what was presumed to be separated shoulder. The Rangers struggled without Lindgren in the lineup, and it’s clear he has grown into one of the most important Rangers on and off the ice.

It’s amusing how a few thought Lindgren was a bad centerpiece of the Rick Nash trade because he didn’t have a good offensive stat line at the University of Minnesota. He’s gone from “why did they get him?” to a guy that the Rangers miss whenever he sits out a game.
