Per Ricky Milliner, NY Rangers 2022 2nd round pick Adam Sykora has been assigned to the Hartford Wolf Pack for the remainder of the AHL season. Sykora, who signed his ELC almost immediately following his selection in the draft, is eligible to play in the AHL as an 18 year old as he was not drafted out of the CHL. Sykora was on loan to HK Nitra in Slovakia this year.
In the Slovak league, Sykora put up a line of 8-13-21 in 38 games, again as an 18 year old playing against grown men. Being assigned to the AHL likely signals that the Rangers like what they’ve seen and potentially see him in the AHL next season as well. It is unlikely Sykora is a true NHL candidate for 2023-2024 as a 19 year old, but could be an option for 2024-2025, when he turns 20.
