Per Colin Stephenson, the NY Rangers lineup tonight may be forced to go with 11 forwards and 5 defensemen. Patrick Kane won’t play until tomorrow, making his NY Rangers debut at MSG. K’Andre Miller is suspended, and Ryan Lindgren appears to be a game time decision.
With Kane out tonight and Ryan Carpenter back in Hartford, 11 forwards was always the plan. Compounding things was the Miller suspension, which wasn’t necessarily a surprise, but disappointing nonetheless. If Lindgren can’t go with his shoulder injury, then the Rangers are down to 5 defensemen as well.
Kane will make it 12 forwards, but this may open the door for an emergency recall if Lindgren is out today and possibly tomorrow.
