The Rangers are in Philadelphia tonight to take on the Flyers in a game where the Blueshirts will come out of the gate shorthanded. Due to all the cap shenanigans needed to land Patrick Kane, the Blueshirts will play with at most 11 forwards and 6 defensemen tonight. If Ryan Lindgren cannot go, it will be 11 forwards and 5 defensemen.

It feels like ages since the Rangers last played, but it’s only been two days. The players, having played against the Kings with 11 forwards and 4 defensemen, are probably well rested, but being shorthanded again tonight won’t help. They also have another game tomorrow, luckily one that will include Kane in the lineup.

The Flyers, by the way, are not a good team. But given the Rangers are shorthanded, this smells like a trap game.
