Per Frank Seravalli, who once leaked an entire expansion draft but now gets few trade details, the Patrick Kane trade details are confirmed. It looks like no roster players or prospects will be going to the Blackhawks. Arthur Staple has the details.

Assuming the above is correct, then the Rangers will sacrifice 2nd and 4th round picks to Chicago for Kane. Per Emily Kaplan, the 2023 2nd becomes a 2024 or 2025 1st round pick if the Rangers make the Eastern Conference Final. This means, no matter what, the Rangers have a 1st round pick for the loaded 2023 draft. There is also a swap of minor league players in the trade.

The Rangers are giving a 3rd round pick to Arizona to retain 25% of Kane’s contract to make it work.

The trade couldn’t be formally announced until after 5pm for cap reasons.
