What a night it was on Friday. Vlad Tarasenko scored on his first shot, and the Rangers won a track meet with Seattle after going up big early. Now the Rangers face a true test: A travel day, the second of a back to back, their backup goalie in net, and all of this against the Metro Division leading and Stanley Cup hopeful Carolina Hurricanes. This is a tall order for any team, let alone a team that’s still finding its chemistry.
The Canes are good. They are a very good possession team, deep up and down the lineup, and tremendously skilled. What they lack is high end finishing skill, which has been their downfall the last few years. They have skill that can finish, but they don’t have the one guy that can break a game open or can be counted upon for a big goal. At least not yet.
The Rangers will have a challenge here.
