The NY Rangers have traded for Vladimir Tarasenko, per Frank Seravalli, ending some rumors about Tarasenko, Timo Meier, and Patrick Kane. Niko Mikkola, a defenseman, is coming to New York with Tarasenko. Heading to St. Louis is Sammy Blais, Hunter Skinner, a 2023 1st, and 2024 4th round pick.

The conditions on the picks: The 1st will be the worse of the two picks the Rangers have. The 4th will be a 3rd when the Rangers make the playoffs. Tarasenko comes at 50% retained salary.

Tarasenko will likely immediately slot into the 1RW with Mika Zibanejad and Artemi Panarin. It’s assumed this will be a salary retention transaction as well.

Mikkola will slot into the 6D spot over Ben Harpur. Libor Hajek is on waivers.
