Blue Seat Bookie loves Detroit today in the NHL slate

Welcome to another edition of Blue Seat Bookie! I apologize for the lack of content, the day job has been more hands on than it normally is. Today’s NHL slate is a good one and there are a ton of good value bets out there. Below are 3 that look incredibly promising in value.

Define the Great Money Line: (3-0)

Seattle Kraken defeat the Colorado Avalanche -115

The oddsmakers have this one as a coin flip, but with Colorado not playing like Colorado this season, and the Kraken outscoring all of their issues, this for me equals a Kraken victory. Now neither Kraken goalie can give this team a competitive edge, so whether Phillip Grubauer is in net as projected or Martin Jones, rely on the fact that the Kraken are having a historic shooting year and are getting contributions from all up and down their lineup. That’s their greatest weapon, and makes you wonder if maybe they’ll try to trade for a goalie in the offseason.

Pull up the Covers: (0-3)

Toronto Maple Leafs cover the Montreal Canadiens -1.5 -140

This is a bit of a trap game on paper for the Maple Leafs, as Cole Caufield is out for the season after sustaining an injury, and Juraj Slavkosky is all but out for the remainder of the year after an incredibly underwhelming rookie year. Sam Montembault is projected to start for the Canadiens, Ilya Samsonov for the Leafs.

So all of that for me means if you are the Leafs, you are facing a Canadiens team who will struggle to score goals with their best player out for the year, and are not even going up against that teams best goaltender. I see no reason why the Leafs shouldn’t win by 2 goals or more with the discrepancy in talent.

Overs orĀ Unders: (3-0)

Detroit Red Wings/Philadelphia Flyers OVER 6 Goals -115

The same as for the Kraken/Avalanche Moneyline, the oddsmaker have this game also as a coin flip as far as the over under is concerned. In 2023 NHL, it’s hard to bet the unders with the scoring up the way it is league wide. Even with lesser teams playing each other, and a likely goalie matchup of Husso and Hart, I think this game is a textbook shootout game that ends up being a 4-3 game.

Good thing this game is being played in Detroit, because if it were in Philadelphia, I don’t know if anyone would have showed up tonight with the Giants and Eagles playing right next door at Lincoln Financial.
